Basic Emergency Response

Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System) – [OPITO STCW95/2010 Conversion]

Standard Code: 5753

Amendment: 1 (September 2020)

Personnel travelling to an offshore asset are required to have completed an offshore safety and emergency response training course, and hold the valid certificates*, prior to travel. The industry standard course for this is the OPITO Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) with Compressed Air Breathing System (CA-EBS) Standard.

In the maritime industry, the STCW95/2010 Basic Safety Training offers similar instruction for marine personnel. Through collaboration between OPITO and the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB), significant correlations have been identified between the STCW95/2010 Basic Safety Training and the OPITO BOSIET with CA-EBS Standard.

There is now a provision of recognised and transferable skills through the OPITO STCW95/2010 Conversion Standard which recognises similarities in the training of marine personnel.
