Following the world-wide COVID-19 outbreak, OPITO has developed a comprehensive response to support employers and the workforce. We are taking measures to ensure that certificate expiry dates can be tracked and extended for both company and delegate requests where refresher training has been impacted due to the COVID-19 virus.
This process will permit appropriate refresher training to take place when possible, and when travel and other restrictions have been lifted.
OPITO Certificate Extension Policy
OPITO is committed to ensuring that, in these exceptional circumstances, where refresher training cannot be undertaken due to the COVID-19 situation, a suitable extension process is available for employers and delegates.

Certification Extension Request
If you have been impacted by COVID-19, and your certification expires within 30 days, please click the appropriate link below (there are separate processes for Employers and Delegates (Self Sponsors)), to complete a short form to submit your extension request. To assist with the extension request process, please note, the form has now been updated to indicate if this is a first or second request for Certificate Extension.
Please note, subject to acceptance of the extension request, the current extension period for certificate expiry is two months. There is no charge for this service.
Candidates who have already received a certificate extension, and continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, may apply for a further two-month extension.
As we continue to monitor the global impact of this outbreak, the certification extension period will be continually reviewed. Please see our policy above for further information.
