In March, OPITO introduced an initiative to allow those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to extend OPITO certification in blocks of two-month periods.
Certificate extension requests have been made when an individual’s certificate was due to expire within the next 30 days. This process has allowed delegates to apply for two extensions for a maximum of four months in total.
Since launching the certificate extension policy, OPITO has processed more than 20,000 requests to date (as of 1 July).
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact industry, on a global scale, delegates (self-sponsors) and employing companies may find themselves in a position where OPITO certification cannot be refreshed.
OPITO Certificate Extension Policy
OPITO continue to ensure that, in these exceptional circumstances, a suitable extension process is available for delegates (self-sponsors) and employing companies.
Please click here to view our revised policy (updated 1 July 2020).
It is expected that this certificate extension process is used where there are no other available alternatives to undertake training and/or assessment.
Please note, previous extension arrangements closed at 23:59hrs GMT, Tuesday 30 June 2020 and the process as outlined in the above policy, is now active and applied to all requests.
Certification Extension Request
If you have been impacted by COVID-19, and your certification expires within 14 days before the expiry date, please click the appropriate link below to complete a short form to submit your extension request. There are separate processes for employers and delegates (self-sponsors).
Please note, subject to acceptance of the extension request, the revised extension period for certificate expiry is one month (effective 1 July). There is no charge for this service.
As we continue to monitor the global impact of this outbreak, the certification extension period will be continually reviewed. Please see our revised policy above for further information.
