Information & Materials for OPITO Training Providers
As part of every training course, training providers will present a course induction explaining who OPITO are and what we do - Appendix 1 also includes the Onshore and Offshore Emergency Response Framework.
Our presentation material contains information on our history, industry forums, central register and the emergency response framework.
Should training providers wish to display the following documents on site, they are available for download:
International Emergency Response Guidelines
Our international guidance document has been created to help provide an understanding of how effective management of Competence in Training and Emergency Response can be achieved using our standards within a development framework of training, assessment, workplace drills, exercises, ongoing practice and formal assessment – this is available in English, Arabic, Brazilian-Portuguese, Indonesian, Russian and Spanish. Recent amendments can also be viewed online.
EBS Cleaning Guidance
The EBS cleaning guidance has been prepared based on the initial guidance issued by HSE UK in 2003, covering the cleaning and labelling of EBS equipment. Whilst this guidance refers to the UK, other countries may require additional tests. It is the Training Providers responsibility to seek advice from relevant medical authorities to identify which tests need to be carried out.
Bridging Elements Procedures
Referring to the Bridging Elements Training Standard, which identifies the differences between the Tropical BOSIET/FOET and the BOSIET/FOET, our procedures document explains what you as a training provider are obligated to do for each delegate post successful completion.
Helideck Standards Training Technical Specifications
Training providers that offer Helideck training must meet our minimum facility and equipment specification, which covers Helideck Structure, Helicopter Fire and ER simulator, Firefighting Capability, Rescue Equipment and PPE.
Mutual Recognition documents
A number of personnel in oil and gas work cross border in the North West of Europe and therefore may complete training in one country but are employed to work in another. A mutual acceptance is in place between NOGEPA, Danish Operators, Norwegian Oil and Gas Association and Oil and Gas UK that recognises safety training given at an approved centre will be accepted in accordance with the attached matrix - ultimately developing a common standard to prepare the workforce to achieve a high level of competence in basic safety.
HUET Diver Training Program
The HUET Diver Training Program document provides details of training and development to equip the qualified diver with the specific knowledge and skills required to undertake the role of HUET diver.
Request for change form - OPITO Standards
This document is a guide to making a request to change to an OPITO Standard. It includes the sequential steps that should be followed to ensure the Request for Change process is effective, and the form that should be completed to initiate the request for change. The form can be submitted by a training provider, oil and gas company or an auditor for a request to change any of our standards.
Competence Assessment and Verification Guidelines
These guidelines are particularly relevant to organisations implementing OPITO Industry Standards, or delivering programmes to OPITO Standards, where competence assessment is a requirement.
