Organisations have an obligation to ensure that contractor personnel are competent.
The OPITO Audit Service reviews contractor competence management and assurance, providing the operator with valuable information on how the contractor company demonstrates competence of the personnel they supply, and demonstrates that the contractor organisation is fulfilling their statutory rights.
Contractor audits are carried out against industry developed criteria which is based on the OPITO CMS approval criteria. Audits take place at the contractor’s main office or locations identified by the operating organisation, including offshore installations.
The audit report produced compliments the operator’s contractor HSEQ audits and can be used to support accident investigations.
Our experienced team can accompany existing contractor audit teams to provide advice and guidance on competence related matters as part of our Contractor Consulting service. The team can assist with risk analysis in terms of competence management and assurance, and offer training for in-house supply chain auditors on competence specific issues to be aware of when auditing against ISO and company requirements.
For further information or to discuss requirements, please contact the CMS team at one of the regional offices.
